Top 5 Fine Dining Restaurant’s in Liverpool City Centre

Experience a little finery in Liverpool with the best fine dining

Liverpool has long been a hub of culture and music, with the likes of The Beatles, Echo and The Bunnymen and The Coral making names for themselves on Merseyside before gaining a wider audience. These days, however, the city is just as well known for its fine dining, with plenty of restaurants in Liverpool offering an array of spectacular cuisine — in fact, the scene has grown so much, there are almost too many restaurants to choose from. To help plan your next visit, here are our top fine dining spots in Liverpool city centre.

1. The Art School

The Art School is a high-end restaurant housed in a former Victorian home for destitute children, known for the huge overhead skylight which brings light right into the dining space.
Expect the best of locally sourced British cuisine served delicately by smart and attentive staff, who know Paul Askew’s carefully curated menu and drinks list inside out.
There are a number of different menus to choose from. Booking ahead is strongly advised if you want a seat in one of Liverpool’s finest restaurants, which is nestled neatly in the city’s Georgian Quarter.

2. Alma De Cuba

Located stunningly in an 18th-century church, the candle-lit Alma De Cuba, in the heart of the city, has a well-earned reputation as being one of Liverpool’s finest restaurants.
The historic building is full of character, while the menus, curated for global travellers with a broad range of cuisines, are packed with many spectacular and unforgettable dishes.
The venue hosts events throughout the year, including samba afternoon tea, where guests can nibble on finger foods and be entertained by Brazilian dancers, and gospel brunch, where guests can sit down for food amid the soulful sounds of a gospel choir.

3. London Carriage Works

On the doorstep of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, London Carriage Works occupies a light and airy red-brick building and offers dining options from right around the world.
The multi-award-winning restaurant serves fresh local produce provided by farmers from the across of the North West, for a menu which is the brainchild of highly respected Head Chef, Mike Kenyon.

4. Panoramic 34

Liverpool’s highest fine dining restaurant, due to its location on 34th floor of Liverpool’s West Tower, Panoramic 34 has a reputation as one of the city’s best dining spots.
The ever-evolving menus are filled with delicately prepared dishes made using only the freshest locally sourced ingredients, which are then served by friendly and knowledgeable waiting staff.
The tasting, a la carte, lunch and afternoon tea menus are unique but equally delicious, while the wine and cocktail lists are the envy of eateries right across the North West.
On a good day, diners can see the Blackpool Tower and the peaks of Snowdon in North Wales. On a bad day, well, the food speaks for itself.

5. Cowshed

The place to go if you want to sample the city’s best steaks, Cowshed was born out of a love for beef and has become one of Liverpool’s hidden dining gems.
Set inside a Georgian building, Cowshed is a low-key affair at the top of Seel Street. It’s perfect if you’re looking for high-end, no-nonsense dining without the thrills the other options on this list might throw at you.
