2nd Date with... Paris !

Discover the capital thanks to the City Guides!

Their first visit of Paris was not convincing enough? Accor decided to change their mind thanks to the City Guides! Find out the story behind their 2nd Date with Paris.

My name is Tamsin, I am originally from Hong Kong but have lived on and off in the UK for about 15 years. I love to travel and have even worked for an adventure travel company to learn more about the world.
One day, I was on the Accor Facebook page, looking for inspiration for my next trip. I decided to share the story of my last trip to Paris which was unfortunately disappointing. A few days later, I received an email saying that Accor wanted to offer me a weekend to Paris to help fall in love with the city again. I couldn’t have been more excited!
We started the weekend by taking the train from London, right after work. After a short train ride, we arrived at Gare du Nord. From there, we were whisked to our hotel,  at the hotel, we headed to the canals. We wandered the streets and just took in the Parisian atmosphere. One of my favourite things to do when I visit a city is to stroll the streets just to get a feel of the city. We walked through beautiful parks and cobbled streets, stopping by chic boutiques to look at the gorgeous clothes and homeware in the stunning Marais district.

After working up a bit of an appetite we ventured to Marche des Enfants Rouges (another of my favourite pastimes in a new city is exploring its markets). I loved the vibrancy of it, with so many different varieties of cuisine and delicious fresh food produce to choose from.
During our stay, we found out it was the Gay Pride, so we decided to take a detour to have a look. The atmosphere was electric and the costumes were amazing. We ended up staying for a few hours just to soak up the atmosphere to enjoy some of the performances. Then it was off back to our hotel to get ready for dinner in quaint cosy corner restaurant. The food was delicious, as is to be expected with French food. We finally ended the night at a bar by the river Seine, sipping cocktails before heading back to the hotel.

On Sunday, we headed to the Picasso Museum to take in some culture. The building itself is set in a stunning historic mansion, within a spacious courtyard. Picasso is one of my favourite artists so having the opportunity to spend time walking through some of his life’s work was really special and reminded me how versatile and talented he was as an artist.

As the sun was shining, we then decided to indulge in a dessert at Angelina’s cake shop and enjoy it in a nearby park. We stayed there, lazing in the afternoon sun, before heading back home to London. All in all, it was magical!

Thanks to Accor, Paris Travel Guide and all the people on social media that have contributed to organising this fantastic trip to Paris, you couldn’t have made it a better weekend!
