How to Enjoy a More Luxurious Evening of Football in Liverpool

Elevate your evening watching the football with a little luxury from Accor

Football in England has changed for the better since the Premier League’s first season in 1992, when inaugural champions Manchester United ushered in football’s modern era. Going to a football match is now all about the match-day fan experience, which is why we’ve outlined how you can enjoy a more luxurious evening of football in Liverpool. If you’re heading to Anfield or Goodison Park, the following restaurants and bars are ideal for a pre- or post-match meal or drink, while avoiding the larger matchday crowds.

Where are Anfield and Goodison Park?

Anfield, the home of Liverpool Football Club, and Goodison Park, the home of rivals Everton, are on opposite sides of Stanley Park, just north of Liverpool’s vibrant centre.
Only around 0.8 miles (16 minutes walk) from each other, both grounds have hosted top-level football since the late 1800s, although domestic success has evaded both sets of supporters for three decades and counting.

Pre-Match Dining in Liverpool

The best Liverpool fine dining spots are based a few miles away from the two stadiums, in the centre of the city, an area where you can sample food from right across the globe.
From your hotel in central Liverpool, there are plenty of options, although it’s best to make a reservation first, especially if you want to dine at the beautiful Art School Restaurant.
Located near Liverpool Philharmonic, locally sourced ingredients specially curated for Paul Askew’s critically acclaimed menu will set you up for 90-minutes of on-pitch action.
Again, a reservation is important if you want to eat at Röski, our next dining choice, where Anton Piotrowski and his team use only the freshest ingredients across a stellar menu. The restaurant is located on Rodney Street, one of the city’s most famous thoroughfares.
Our third choice, the London Carriage Works, does simplicity with a flair you’ll struggle to find anywhere else. From full lunch and dinner menus to afternoon tea, drop by here for a truly memorable gastronomic experience.

Pre-Match Drinks in Liverpool

Calm those pre-match nerves or celebrate a win with our favourite places to grab a swift drink en route to either Anfield and Goodison Park.
Stop off at Panoramic 34, which serves food as well as drinks, for unrivalled views of the city centre. On a clear day, you can see as far as Snowdonia in Wales and the Blackpool Tower to the north.
Alma De Cuba, on Seel Street, is inside a former Roman Catholic church, providing customers with a spectacular setting for drinks or a sit-down meal, depending on the mood.
Our last pick is Castle St Townhouse, with indoor and outdoor seating making it the perfect stop-off for a drink or bite to eat; whether you’re heading to an afternoon match or a huge European game under floodlights.
