Having been an annual event for over thirty years, the Saint Sylvester Run (or Zürcher Silvesterlauf) is now something of a tradition in the run up to Christmas. A great crowd of runners of all ages come to take part.
There are several different courses available (family, school children, adults: men's and women's) which take the participants through the historic centre of Zurich starting from the banks of the Limmat, with courses ranging from 1.4 to 8.8 kilometres in length. And if you wanted to enjoy a fantastic view over the banks of the Limmat and the Christmas lights, you could watch the race from the top of the Grossmünster.
