From Friday, March 9 2018 to Sunday, July 8 2018
There is often some truth in dreams. And reality too. In any case that is what artists such as René Magritte and Rousseau (Le Douanier) thought, whose dreamlike works do not break free from the real world. On the contrary, they used objects and landscapes, that they painted very accurately and realistically. As if the figurative was most able to translate the unconscious.
The exhibition currently on show at the Kunsthaus Zürich aims to show how three painters (Rousseau, Magritte and Dietrich) related to the world, caught between the visual horrors of the First World War and the development of the science of the unconscious.
