From Thursday, August 2 2018 to Monday, October 22 2018

All hail the female poet.

Wellington celebrates one of its most famous children: Katherine Mansfield (1888-1923), who in 2018 would have been 130 years old. The anniversary of her birth is now marked by a series of city-wide celebrations (known as KM130) to commemorate what many consider to be New Zealand's finest and most highly acclaimed writer.
The Portrait Gallery joins the movement by presenting Anne Estelle Rice's painting of her to the public. Created in 1918, the work is undoubtedly the most faithful representation of the author.
