In a small Moorish house near the Canal du Midi, the museum is named after Georges Labit (1862-1899), a Toulouse collector who was passionate about Asia. In his villa, Labit displayed all the objects, works of art and trinkets he had brought back from his travels.
In the museum garden, a specialised library houses over 1,500 books on Egyptian antiques and Asian art.
