From Wednesday, June 5 2019 to Sunday, June 16 2019
Dating back to 1954, the annual Sydney Film Festival is one of the oldest film festivals in the world, showcasing the latest from the world of cinema, both homegrown Aussie talent and from the international film industry.
And with the films like Akira Kurosawa's Samurai 7, Michelangelo Antonioni's Profession: Reporter, Wim Wenders' Paris Texas and more recently Steve McQueen's Hunger, the Festival has always embraced the challenges of diversity and audacity, at the forefront of independent film. Although awards have been given out since the first years of the festival, the prestigious Sydney Film Prize was first awarded in 2008, when this festival was to take on a more international scope.
