An extraordinary celebration.

Every year on January 26, Australia Day commemorates the arrival of the first British colony on Australian soil in 1788 at Sydney Cove. It was here that Captain Arthur Phillip raised the British flag for the first time.

Lots of celebrations take place in Sydney. Most of the activities take place around Sydney Harbour, beginning in the morning with a ceremony led by the indigenous people. A fireworks display takes place in the evening.

At The Rocks, you'll also be able to enjoy market stalls selling locally-designed creations, as well as concerts, or the Ferrython, a competition to find the most beautiful ferry, held at Sydney Harbour Bridge. Picnics, barbecues, parades, ... The party is everywhere on January 26th!
