Also known as the Altino Arantes Tower, the Banespa Tower is one of the largest skyscrapers in São Paulo.
The building stands 161 metres high and has 36 floors. It was built to serve as the headquarters for the São Paulo State Bank between 1937 and 1947. Designed by Plinio Botelho do Amaral, who took his inspiration from the Empire State Building, this was the highest building in the city for two decades before being robbed of this title by the Itália Tower.
