If you have visited Paris in recent years, you may well have noticed some major changes taking place in the area of Les Halles. This project of major redevelopment works here is transforming this historically important place at the heart of Paris. In early 2016, the first phase of works will be complete, and an impressive canopy, dreamt up by Patrick Berger and Jacques Anziutti, will be unveiled. Conceived as a link between the city above and below, taking plants as its inspiration, this canopy will give new life to this historic quarter of Paris which was once a great central market for fruit, vegetables and all kinds of products. The new design includes a patio which will be a gathering place for cultural events.
