All year long
Consisting of 23 hectares (57 acres) of landscaped greenery the Parc des Buttes Chaumont is a green refuge in the north east of Paris. Visitors can discover an "Anglo-Chinese" garden that is a striking contrast to French and English style gardens. The park is rather hilly and therefore offers some excellent views across Paris. Climb up to the monument at the top of the park to enjoy sublime views of Paris and the Sacré Coeur.
Enjoy a walk among the sloping lawns dotted with ancient plane trees and chestnut trees. In summer, this park is a lovely place to take a picnic and relax in the sunshine on the grass. The park also has a waterfall and a pretty lake that's home to moorhens and black swans. The kids will love the playgrounds and the swings and you can even go for a ride in a horse-drawn carriage.
The Buttes Chaumont Park is probably the most romantic park in Paris. However, it's also popular with runners. With its hills rising up to 101m, the park is an ideal place for runners looking for a hilly challenge.
