From Wednesday, October 18 2017 to Monday, January 15 2018
François I greatly appreciated Italian art. But it’s perhaps less widely known that the reign of the French monarch was particularly marked by the establishment in France of artists from the Netherlands.
While, among these artists, Jean Clouet and Corneille de La Haye (known as Corneille de Lyon) are among the best known, others, often forgotten, have shone just as brightly. So this exhibition shines the spotlight on Godefroy le Batave, Noël Bellemare and Grégoire Guérard, immersing us in artistic genres as diverse as illumination, painting, stained glass, tapestry and sculpture.
