Through the work of Degas, a portrait of the Paris Opera in the 19th century.

Throughout his career, Degas made Opera the focal point of his work. He explored its various spaces – hall and stage, boxes, foyer, dance hall – and became attached to those who frequent them – dancers, singers, musicians in the orchestra, spectators, ticket holders in black clothes haunting the wings. This closed universe is a microcosm with infinite possibilities allowing all kinds of experiments.
No exhibition has so far considered Opera as a whole, studying both the passionate connection Degas had with this world, his musical tastes, but also the infinite resources in this wonderful "toolbox".
