A major painter celebrated.

This exhibition is dedicated to Caravaggio (1571 - 1610), an emblematic figure of Italian painting from the 17th century. For this unique event, close to ten masterpieces from the artist have been brought together exceptionally in France.
Coming from the greatest Italian museums, these fascinating paintings will be able to retrace the Roman career of Caravaggio until his exile. They will enter into dialogue with the works of illustrious contemporaries such as the Cavaliere d'Arpino, Annibal Carrache, Orazio Gentileschi, Giovanni Baglione and Ribera, with the aim of revealing the full range of the innovative genius of Caravaggio and considering the artistic effervescence which reigned at the time in the Eternal City.
