From Thursday, July 12 2018 to Sunday, July 22 2018
The International Jazz Festival in Juan-les-Pins (Antibes), is a reference point for all jazz fans. The first "Jazz à Juan", which was created as a tribute to the town’s adopted son Sidney Bechet (1897–1959), the composer of "In the streets of Antibes", was held in 1960, making this jazz festival the longest running in Europe.
But Antibes’s love of jazz began forty years earlier, when it became the meeting place in Europe in the "Jazz Age" for American intellectuals and modernists such as F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemingway.
The annual jazz festival has celebrated the greats such as Louis Armstrong, and drawn the biggest international stars around, including Maurice Chevalier, Mistinguett and Charles Trénet.
