Covering over 340 hectares, Central Park is the green oasis in the middle of New York. Developed over the span of 13 years, and officially opened in 1873, Central Park has become one of the must-see attractions of the city. Year-round, sports enthusiasts, joggers and families congregate on its trails and lawns. A road, hiking trails, ice rinks, artificial lakes, play areas as well as a protected natural zone are but a few of the features of Central Park.
Central Park also has a zoo, which opened in 1984, and whose top attraction is the sea lions' pool.
In summer, the Delacorte Theater hosts free outdoor performances every year. Children can have fun on one of the 57 horses that make up the famous Central Park Carousel.
During your walks, you can also enjoy discovering the many statues and works of art scattered around the park, including Strawberry Fields, a memorial to John Lennon.
