The Musée d'Archéologie Méditerranéenne de Marseille has a vast collection of ancient art.
The museum is most famous for the exceptional richness of its Egyptian collection that has a wide range of objects from the beginning of the Ancient Empire right up to the Coptic era.
A large part of the Egyptian collection is formed by the collection of Clot-Bey, private doctor, friend and ambassador of Méhémet-Ali, vice-roy of Egypt.
