All year long
The site of the Fort Saint-Jean in Marseille was occupied by the commandery of the Knights Hospitaller during the 12th century. The square tower was built in the 15th century by King René. Around 1670, Louis XIV ordered the Knight of Clerville to build the Le Fanal Tower in order to reinforce the building complex.
Nowadays the Fort Saint Jean is open to the general public and it often hosts exhibitions organised by the Museum of Civilisations of Europe and of the Mediterranean (MUCEM).
