Opening of the Yves Saint Laurent Museum Marrakesh
Monday, October 16 2017
The Pierre Bergé-Yves Saint Laurent Foundation announced, during Paris Fashion Week 2016, the creation of two new museums dedicated to the work of fashion designer (1936-2008): one in Paris and one in Marrakesh. These two spaces will allow the foundation to exhibit a part of its collection, while also being able to renew the accessories, clothing, sketches and photographs that will be presented there.
Morocco played a major role in the work of Yves Saint Laurent, but also in his personal life. Since discovering it in 1966 and until his death, the couturier travelled there regularly. This new building will present an original stage design, near the Majorelle Gardens where Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé were regular visitors.
