In Spain the Christmas holidays last much longer than in France, with children receiving gifts brought by the Magi on January 6th. The Cavalcade of the Three Kings takes place in Spain's major cities. This national festival will be of interest to tourists and marks the end of Christmas festivities.
In the late afternoon on January 5th, Balthazar, Melchior and Caspar arrive dressed in beautiful costumes throwing sweets to the crowd. Before going to bed, children leave a pair of shoes, a bucket of water (for the camels) and food for the Magi beside the window. The ritual represents a magical childhood experience!
