From Tuesday, April 4 2017 to Monday, September 4 2017

Formerly, Picasso mostly explored the private sphere.

To mark the 80th anniversary of "Guernica", a masterpiece that marked a turning point in the work and life of Picasso, the Reina Sofia National museum of art is organising a major exhibition.

It shows, through more than one hundred paintings, the path that Picasso took towards the imagery of this seminal work, characterised by perplexity and horror.

In particular, it takes you through the still life paintings from 1924-25 and his work on monstrosity in the late 1920s and 30s.
