The human condition.

This is the first major exhibition in Madrid to be devoted to Edvard Munch since 1984. In collaboration with the Munch Museet in Oslo, the exhibition at the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum features approximately 80 works by the Norwegian artist. The exhibition is arranged by theme, such as the representation the human figure in various settings (the coast, the sick room, the green room, the woods and so on), and the radicalism of Munch's plastic language (flat and winding forms, ambiguity of opposites, symbolic colours and so on.).
The exhibition Edvard Munch. Archetypes aims to enlighten the viewer about the strategies used by the Norwegian painter to guide the space into a psychic dimension and thus to achieve his purpose: showing the symbolic truth of the human condition.
