From Tuesday, June 18 2019 to Sunday, September 22 2019
In painting, as in fashion, lines and textures and the pairing of patterns and colours are at the heart of everything. The pivotal stylist Cristóbal Balenciaga, who drew constant inspiration from the great Spanish painters for his clothing designs, had identified this affinity. Paintings from the 16th to 20th centuries therefore constituted raw materials for his textile creations.
The Thyssen Museum, with its works from private collections and national museums, invites you to discover the close links between the work of a man from the fashion world and the paintings that inspired him.
