The Musée Gallo-Romain de Fourvière and the archaeological site are located on the slopes of the Fourvière hill in Lyon, which was once the centre of the Roman city Lugdunum, founded in the year 43 B.C.
The museum was designed by Bernard H. Zehrfuss and holds one of the finest archaeological collections in France spanning the history of Lyon from the end of Prehistory up to the 7th century A.D.
