The Musée des Confluences and the Institut Lumière invite you to discover the epic of the most famous Lyon family, from the birth of cinematography to its heritage in modern cinema.
In the 19th century, science and techniques experienced a new boom. Innovations and discoveries appeared in the area of optics, movement, mechanics and chemistry allowing the Lumière brothers to conceive a technical and cultural revolution: cinematography. Born in Lyon and a key part of Lyon heritage, the invention of cinema is the confluence of the arts, science and also industry. It created a new form of leisure which is still here today.
From Tuesday 13 June 2017 to Sunday 25 February 2018 :
