Pancakes are to the English what crêpes are to the French. Every year, one day is dedicated to this traditional sweet or savoury dish (mentioned in cookbooks since the 15th century). The exact date of Pancake Day or Shrove Tuesday varies according to Easter (being 40 days before Easter).
On this fun days which falls just before lent, pancake races are often organised, in which competitors must run while tossing a pancake in a frying pan! Have some fun and do something worthwhile: the proceeds will go to charity.
