Their debut album Showbiz was released in 1999, and the power trio called Muse, hailing from Devon, exploded on the world scene with a melodic and noisy rock. Their influences ranged from by the neo-romanticism of Rachmaninoff to the sound of Radiohead, particularly on their second album The Bends. And that was just the beginning…
The Origin of Symmetry album released in 2001, unveiled the young band's more personal musical identity, led by the charismatic singer-guitarist-pianist Matthew Bellamy. The sound evolved, becoming more apocalyptic, sombre and saturated. Against all expectation, their success was tenfold two years later with their third album, Absolution.
Resisting all attempts at classification, Matthew Bellamy once more confounded observers with his obvious reverence for Freddie Mercury, Rachmaninov and Tom Morello (guitarist inRage Against the Machine and Audioslave).
Muse's fourth album, Black Holes and Revelations was released in 2006 and confirmed the electro sound favoured by the band in previous work. The album The Resistance came out in 2009, and The 2nd Law came out in 2012. In 2015, Muse are back on tour to promote their latest album, Drones.
