The English adore their rugby, the Six Nations tournament and the World Cup being the highlights of the sport. So it's not surprising that they often need a break in the year after a major event, using the time to take stock and have a breather before returning to the fray in the next major event.
Since 1999, the English side has had only one goal in mind and that was to win the Webb Ellis trophy. 2003 was a good year, when England won their first world title in Australia, but in 2007 they were beaten in the final by South Africa.
Before the 2000s, England built a track record worthy of the greatest rugby nations with 36 wins in the tournament (the last came in 2011), including 13 Grand Slams.
