An island celebration.

Every year, between the 5th and 9th day of the 4th lunar month, the Cheung Chau Bun Festival turns Cheung Chau island into the focal point of Hong Kong. The inhabitants spend several weeks preparing for the celebrations by making beautiful paper-mâché effigies of deities and building a huge bamboo tower. Thousands of people gather to admire the Taoist ceremonies, the parades and the traditional lion dance. The highlight of the celebrations is the climbing of the famous bamboo tower, the culmination point of the Cheung Chau Bun Festival, a major event in Asia.
