The Palais des festivals et des Congrès in Cannes remains a unique building. Built in 1982 on the site of the city casino, the Palais des festivals et des congrès (Festival and exhibition Centre) plays host to a number of events each year, the most famous of which is of course the Cannes International Film Festival.
In 1999, the palace expanded with the addition of the Espace Riviera: a new space with an area of over 10,000m² now allows the Palais des festivals the ability to offer a total of 25,000m² of exhibition space, as well as several rooms (18 of which are auditorium style). In 2013 the venue unveiled a new staircase with white marble steps and a chic hallway for added prestige.
