Like a fairytale image, the Buda Palace is ideally situated atop a hill that provides splendid views of the city of Budapest. Built on the foundations of three previous castles, one constructed following the Tartar invasion in the thirteenth century, a Gothic and a Renaissance castle. Nowadays the palace, (listed by Unesco), is home to the National Gallery of Hungary, the great library and the History Museum of Budapest.
