Located in the northern part of the city of Brussels, the Atomium is a key monument on the Brussels skyline. Neither tower, nor pyramid; a little bit cubic, a little bit spherical; half-way between sculpture and architecture, this relic of the past which yet looks decidedly futuristic is in fact a museum and exhibition space.
Designed for the Universal Exhibition of 1958, the Atomium is composed of nine spheres and is over 100m high. It was restored in 2006.
The Atomium hosts exhibitions throughout the year.
