Between the Grand-Place and the Bourse, the biscuit shop Dandoy is the secret address hoarded by those who love biscuits and sweet treats.
For over two centuries, this shop has pursued a tradition of handmade Belgian and Brussels biscuits. Just a few meters from the shop is where the workshops bake the famous pains à la grecque, pains aux amandes, sablés and old-fashioned macaroons.
But the main attraction is of course traditional speculoos in the shape of Saint Nicholas, the Belgian Father Christmas. Across the shop threshold, let yourself be seduced by the smell of biscuits, almonds and spices. Wooden cake moulds hang off the walls representing characters and animals used for making the giant speculoos. Old cake boxes remind Belgians of their teatime snacks at their grandmothers’ and take them down memory lane.
Sample their pains à la grecque, speculoos and chocolate speculoos.
