Brisbane’s annual Buddha Birthday Festival is the largest event of its kind in the world, attracting more than 150,000 visitors. It’s the most significant day of the year for Buddhists, marking the birth of the religion’s founder.
The three-day celebration, which was first held in 1997, celebrates the diversity of Australia’s multicultural society. It stages a variety of creative activities, performances, exhibitions and competitions in a relaxed atmosphere, ending with a spectacular fireworks display. Everyone is welcome, regardless of age, faith or cultural background.
