Celebrating Australia's roots.

January 26th is the date of the Australian national holiday, known as Anniversary Day, Foundation Day or, more commonly, Australia Day.

Numerous activities (concerts, exhibitions, festivals, sports and recreational events) are organised for the occasion, culminating in spectacular fireworks across the country. The day commemorates the establishment of the first British colony on Australian soil in 1788 at Sydney Cove, the headquarters of a penal colony at Port Jackson.
