All year long
A sense of wonder strikes you as soon as you see the north portal surrounded by scallops and continues with the retable and altar in the seventeenth-century Saint-James Chapel with decorative detail relating to the Way of Saint James.
Cardinal François de Sourdis had work undertaken in this chapel in honour of Saint James in the early seventeenth century. Many other interesting pieces are housed in the basilica: a seventeenth-century retable, "The Apotheosis of Saint James" (1631), a central stained glass window by Couturat, a modern work depicting Saint James’s life combating the infidels, and a pilgrim’s headstone on the right.
