Mir is a very imposing boat, almost twice the size of Belem, it measures more than 100 metres long and has 28 sails.
Mir is the second tall ship in a series built by the Gdansk shipyards, in Poland and one of 5 ships built for the USSR between 1987 and 1990. When the USSR was dismantled Russia kept the Mir, which remained in Europe.
The Mir is now used as a sailing school. It has 40 crew members and 144 cadets on board. It takes part in many events and always attends the Rouen Armada. It also takes part in tall ship races, which it often wins: its owner claims that it is the fastest of all the tall ships.
Soon, Mir will take part in the Tall Ship Race, that will stop in Bordeaux in June 2018.
