This Baroque palace is one of the few not to have suffered damage from bombing in World War II.
Frederick the Great gave the Schönhausen Palace (Schloss Schönhausen) as a gift to his wife, Queen Elisabeth Christine, who lived there until her death in 1797.
Under the German Democratic Republic, the castle was used as the presidential residence and it hosted some prestigious guests.
In 2009, the building was completely restored. Today, visitors can admire this historic place which features on of the UNESCO world heritage list.
