All year long
A very popular promenade at the end of the 18th century, this sandstone gate with its 12 doric columns inspired by the propylaea of the Athens Acropolis, became in the 20th century a symbol the division of Berlin. During this period (1961-1989) the Brandenburg Gate was in the no man's land behind the wall.
Explore the area, with its large pedestrianised section created by the senate in 2002 to appreciate the capacity of Berlin and its creators to reinvent and remove the scars of the past without denying its history. Many new buildings by the major architects make up part of the new architectural wealth of the Pariser Platz.
