Strategic defense.

Phra Sumen Fort is one of two defensive monuments still standing in Bangkok.

It was built in 1783 to protect the old city when it became the capital of Thailand during the reign of King Rama I. These constructions were strategically placed beside the Chao Phraya river, watching over and protecting the heart of Bangkok.
