The most famous beer in the world still bears the name of Geraard Adrian Heineken, who took over the Hooiberg (haystack) brasserie in 1864.
After falling into disuse in 1988, the building was converted into a museum in praise of Heineken.
Here visitors can learn about the history of beer, which goes right back to the Sumeriansin the 4th century BC, then the history of the company and of course the manufacturing process.
Entrance includes two tastings and a gift from the souvenir shop. For the penultimate tasting, passing through the stables reminds us of the times when deliveries were made using horse-drawn carriages.
