The origins of the oldest church in Amsterdam, the Oude Kerk (literally "Old Church"), date back to the thirteenth century. Restored in the sixteenth century, the building boasts an invoice from Gothic and Renaissance that make it instantly recognizable.
The buffet organ and stained glass are some of the historical attractions of the monument, famous for being the scene of funerals such as that of the wife of the painter Rembrandt, Cornelis de Graeff and Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck.
