Nice big room with a view but TV NOT WORKING!

Arrived Saturday pm 27th April. Collapsed on bed to chill out with TV. No signal! Reception sent up a young man who kindly got Channel 5 working and we thanked him. After he had gone we tried other channels but nothing found. Even CH 5 disappeared. Reception: "No maintenance man till Monday". Only staying the one night! I emailed the manager and on Monday got a response, apology and a discount (thanks for that). BUT I REALLY DO THINK YOU SHOULD CHECK THE TV WORKS BEFORE EACH NEW GUEST SINCE THERE ARE OBVIOUSLY SIGNAL/CABLE PROBLEMS IN THAT ROOM (511). Found this hassle really annoying after a long drive! Booked two rooms for one night. Rooms were fine although some communal areas a bit tired. Lovely views over the river towards the Swan where I normally stay, but they were full. Pluses - car park (the one in the Swan is often full which is a major pain) while yours was not, room, views, good value - minuses (bar dead as a dodo - unlike the Swan!!, breakfast dull but nice views, fire alarm at 3 am!! OK not your fault and you delivered an apology pretty quick - probably some fool having a cigarette and suspect the apology letter is always ready to go!!). Overall would certainly stay there again.

Everything about the Mercure Bedford hotel was exceptional. It was very clean, stylish with excellent service in where we had breakfast. Room itself was well equipped and had a nice river view. Special thanks to Elisabet & Moin (Front office Team) and Meera (Restaurant) for such a great hospitality.
