POOR -DISAPPOINTED My room was in the midst of building works, dust and noise, workmen walking about in the corridors. IT WAS A WORKSITE! I was disappointed with Mercure Accor Hotel brand name and would not be recommending your hotels. I should have been informed that renovations were taking place and then I could make a choice. I was put in a position on arrival day, if I did not stay, I would still be charged in full. As a courtesy and gesture of goodwill, I feel I should have been given a discount. And it is not too late now.

Room was very spacious, lovely view of the river. Bit disappointed with my sleep, it seemed as though the bed was too hot even though AC was on.

Great views but not able to access the balcony. Room refurbished but windows didn't fit [large gaps between frame and window]. No hot food when we arrived for breakfast!

Staff are always accommodating and do their best in a hotel that’s still undergoing refurbishment. Rooms with inter connecting doors aren’t great as you often pick up noise from next door. However, rooms are clean, comfortable and certainly nice to stay in. I like the fact that the hotel has a gym which is rare in Bedford.

Everyone was constructive and helpful. The usual Mercure problem of insufficient storage space for a long stay (9 nights) partly overcome by management initiative, providing an extra hanging rail.

We arrived and were allocated a room which was one of the non-refurbished rooms - entirely different to the images displayed on the website. When returning to the hotel later that night our key cards did not work - there was problem with the lock itself.. We subsequently found that friends of ours also staying in the hotel that night had earlier been allocated the same room and had found the same problem. Despite this being a known problem with we were still allocated this room. The room was filthy with dirty carpets, dirty curtains and stained nets. I have never encountered such a dirty hotel room before. We made our views very clear to the receptionist. when we departed.

Staff was not trained. Except for Malena the visit wasn’t the best. Asked for water in the room never received it.. noise from construction the entire visit. Could not sleep and always waited for them lifts escude the construction team would hold them up on the floors.

Check-in staff and breakfast ladies were extremely friendly and helpful. Excellent view on the Ouse from breakfast room and one of the two rooms we had booked. Unfortunately it was not possible to open any of the windows, something which would normally be a total no-go for us. It hadn't occurred to us to even ask about that before our stay. Some minor things are yet to be improved. The hotel is in a restructuring/refurbishing phase. We were told by next year everything will be finished. The hotel was advertised on an Accor site, booking was possible there but I couldn't use my Accor points. This also should be possible as of next year when the brand change is complete and fully functional.
