First time staying and was extremely satisfied throughout. Fast efficient check in. Friendly and helpful staff throughout and amazing rooms that were spacious, well equipped and immaculately clean. Great value for money. Food and drink is a bit pricey but well presented and prepared. Hotel location offers plenty of alternatives for dining though. Will definitely stay again when the opportunity arises.

I was welcomed extremely well,my room was ready for me early however on checking the air conditioning it didn’t work this was rectified by bringing in a mobile heater which proved satisfactory for the remainder of my stay .Then I proceeded down for dinner which I had invited a friend to join me we sat down at 7.00pm was presented with the menu we were not impressed by the starters and moved on to the main we both decided on grilled salmon when the gentleman came to take the order he was asked what came with the salmon we were told spinach but they had none we could order a replacement side order I said carrots and chunky chips he returned to say there was no chunky chips only skinny ones I told him this was unsatisfactory was their no ordinary potatoes there was no potatoes my ordered a side salad after several minutes the side salad was brought and the chunky chips but he had forgotten the grilled salmon and he would check when it would be ready he came back and it would be a short while anyone knows if you are starting to grill something from scratch it takes between 10 and 20 minutes so when the salmon eventually came the chips had to be replaced and we had finished our main course and waiting quite awhile we called the young lady who was serving drinks etc behind the bar to see if she could get us the sweet menu has the gentleman appeared to be avoiding us.the sweets came which rhubarb crumble and custard this was the best part of our meal which we told the young lady and she then brought our coffee which we had ordered.We the noticed that the table behind us had received their main course to our surprise they had boiled potatoes and vegetables.I then went to pay the bill I was offered a 20% reduction when I informed the gentleman that I would be writing this review he changed to 50% which I grudgingly accepted. Wednesday proved a better day after a good night’s sleep I had breakfast which I enjoyed and the went for a good around Wollaton Hall estate on returning to the hotel and on entering my bedroom I found the invite for the formal opening of the hotel following the extensive renovations I accepted the invitation and experienced a great evening talking with one of my fellow guests I discovered he had had a similar experience the night before. After another good night’s sleep I went and had an enjoyably breakfast I saw the gentleman I had spoken to the previous evening that we still had not tasted the chef dinner menu we both laughed.I went to pay my bill and I noticed the whole of the bill for Tuesday evening had been removed this is graciously accepted but it leaves me in quandary I want to stay at this hotel in the future how do I know what type of food will be offered?

Sadly the visit was not a success. When my partner arrived on the Sunday afternoon she was immediately compelled to pay the full stay bill to obtain the room key. As a Silver card holder I have never had this attitude or approach before. the night of her arrival, Sunday, when she went down for dinner she was told the dining room was closed as there was a lack of business. As she had not eaten all day with travelling she insisted on having something cooked as it was part of the hotel service and she believed was part of the charter that Mercure operates under. She was offered what was on the menu but was then told there was no fish and steak and ended up having abowl of soup, cheeseburger at £15, and a glass of wine, - the total available. This fell totally short of the standard expected of Mercure hotel standards. To crown it all she was advised she would have to eat in the bar area on a side table for drinks. She insisted on a table in the dining area. The other failure was that having had an eye operation she required to keep her eyes and head totally dry, which proved impossible as the shower had no hand set but comprised of a "waterfall" type ceiling shower which she could not use and apparently when she asked to move to one with a bath she was advised there were only three rooms with baths - all in use. When I arrived the next day, I found the car parking very confusing with little direction where to park for the hotel, and despite my partner trying to register the car number as required at the reception desk, they refused to do so until I arrived. As a result of the Sunday night restaurant experience we chose to eat out on the Monday night, where we had a full range of food available. As a result of her experiences and lack of suitable room we decided to cut short our visit and move on to a Mercure Hotel in Chester near our final destination. Fortuitously they agreed to a refund of the final nights accommodation, without argument. Isubsequently ascertained that the hotel was new to Accor Mercure group, having previously been run as a Radison Blu hotel. IF that was their standard it certainly does not meet the standard I expect from a Mercure Hotel, having had experience in France regularly of a quality service and hotel facilities. I cannot regard this as a satisfactory example of Mercure, which now needs a serious review by an Accor Inspection team, to ensure it meets the groups high standards.

Checkin was good. My room was good, was as described on your website. Had most things I needed. Dinner was good, simple and easy menu with some good choices. Food tasted fresh and home made. The restaurant was good and in the restaurant and lobby you had the heating on which I really appreciated. Service was good at dinner. Shower was OK but I was missing shower gel, don't like using the soap bar. Room had good heating which was nice. Breakfast was a bit lacking. Not much choice of items and the hot food items had been standing underneath the heat lamp too long so the bacon and scrambled eggs were just very dry. Shame you could not order an omelette. Bread choice was disappointing, just cheap sliced bread and one loaf to cut. Would have been nice to have some fresh rolls and a fresh roll of rye or similar dark flour bread. Checkout was OK - you need to have a printer at reception, not in an adjacent room. Overall, I thought the hotel offered good value for money.

The hotel was fine. The staff member booking in asked too many questions. I didn't appreciate the use of a private car parking company for the car park. These companies are aggressive, unplesant and rip-off people on a regular basis. Being told 'make sure you've got your registraion correct or you could be fined' makes the hotel look unfriendly. I wouldn't use it again because of this.

The hotel had just experienced a refurbishment in the lobby which made it clean and inviting. The room wasnt as described which made it a little disappointing. We paid to upgrade our room from a standard double and we where told there would be a small fridge and a nespresso machine. This would have made it similar to other hotels we have stayed at in the Accor chain, however there where neither of these things. The bed was large and very comfortable. The air conditioning in our room wasn't working either. Finding a plug socket in a suitable place for the kettle was also difficult within the room. There where also no ironing facilities within the room, which also made it difficult when going to dinner. The pool facilities where very nice however due to building works a little difficult to find.

A convenient and comfortable location with an indoor pool for our two-night stay. Not all that far for waking to and from the city centre in preference to driving and the usual parking hassles there. Friendly staff and good service.

Disappointing, maid service and room service dreadful. Staff very polite and helpful, though not always aware of what's going on. Hotel going through refurbishment, so our stay was not great, but the hotel was looking good and the food was good.

Good place to stay with plenty of free parking. Staff were very accommodating. Easily walkable to Nottingham City Centre in 20 minutes along Mansfield Road. Would look to stay there again if staying in the city.

the staff were all very welcoming and friendly and happy to help. I was disappointed that we weren't informed when booking that the hotel was in the process of a major refurbishment which meant that some of the facilities were temporary make do areas for example the bar and lounge area. To use the leisure facilities we had to use a fire escape as the 2nd floor was completely occupied by decorators. Our room was very comfortable but not everybody can use a soaker as a shower and an adjustable shower would have been a great benefit as my wife had to use the disabled shower in the leisure area. A lavatory brush would also be a great addition . There was also no extraction in the toilet and we were unable to open the windows. (these were not reported), The handles on the toilet door both came off but were fixed promptly.

Painters everywhere, areas ropped off and not usable.Strong smell of paint everywhere. Staff in reception excellent, polite and knowledgeable. Room said to be refurbished, painted, wallpaper and new carpet BUT basic refurbishments to plumbing still needed. Sink looked like polyfiller had dried in it and cracked. It needed replacing. Shower water excessively slow to drain. All this for a substantially increased price since we last stayed!

Excellent stay, the rooms have been nicely updated.
