We were given a very noisy room. I guess someone had to have it! We asked to be moved, but there was nothing available. It had a constant noise - humming - coming from the roof. The receptionist could care less. The room was clean. You should give complimentary earplugs.

Our experience was lovely the staff were very friendly, polite and knowledgeable. The beds were were very comfortable however our room did not have any veiw due to the scaffolding, on Sunday it was a beautiful sunny morning but our room was very dark also because there were no ceiling lights. So getting for a party was a bit tricky. Having said that I'm sure it will be bright once the scaffolding are down.

Reception staff were excellent, very helpful and efficient. Allowed us to check in early which was much appreciated. Thin walls and a noisy neighbor slightly impacted our sleep but the room was great other than that.

While most of aspects of the room were adequate, unfortunately our family room was located next to the main doors along the corridor, which were constantly slamming and squeaking through the night. This left both my partner and myself to be woken every time a fellow guest walked along the corridor.

There were building works taking place in the hotel which resulted in scaffolding outside the windows, and people on the scaffolding, plus noise in the mornings which didn't generate the most relaxing family experience. Both rooms had leaks in the roof above the windows and pools of water on the window sill, I appreciate the weather was bad, however the damp smell and pools of water are not what I would expect. One room had a faulty handle on the bathroom door which was poorly repaired when highlighted to reception. Also, the pull out bed had sharp edges on the frame which grazed both my daughter (age 6) and wife's legs. The leaks, door handle and bed frame were raised with reception at the time however there was no real follow up to these issues. Luckily we were using the hotel as a base and out a lot, otherwise this would have had a much more negative impact on our holidays.

Our experience was quick and easy, had a lovely 1 night stay, the room was modern with great clean, modern facilities being very spacious! The morning after we had a buffet breakfast included in the price, but otherwise would’ve happily paid the £7.50 each for breakfast! Overall looking forward to staying here again :)

Staff were amazing at all times. Room was comfy and clean to a high standard. Building work being done was loud right next to our room in the morning so any chance of a lay in was out of the question. Should have been informed of this as it took away from the holiday experience.

It was really difficult to find the hotel, the sat nav by postcode wasn’t clear (google maps) not bringing me off the main road to the slip road so I had to go up and down the a48 a few times, before putting in the name of the hotel itself. Also, as a single woman travelling late at night, I wasn’t ready for banter on reaching the reception desk, all meant in friendly way I’m sure, but I just wanted to get to my room so I could sleep.

We stayed as a base for our wedding as it was close by to our own home which had family staying. We had a deluxe room which had just been refurbished and it was very comfortable.

Overall the transform to Mercure is going well but a few obvious lazy problems

I stayed for work and was pretty happy with the hotel itself. It's undergoing a change from Park Inn by Radisson to Mercure so is covered in scaffolding. The rooms that have been upgraded are lovely, but they've not bothered changing the taps and sink from the old one which stand out like a sore thumb and very much ruin the upgrade. (Considering this appears to be a deliberate decision - the showers are new - it smacks of money saving or laziness.) The evening meal was OK, nothing special but not horrifically expensive either. Breakfast was fairly nice too, good selection and well cooked (although the eggs were somewhat overcooked).

Generally poor as there was no information about the renovation work ongoing in the hotel when I booked. I am also a silver card holder and there was no mention of this at the desk and they also charged me when I arrived and not at the end of my stay which meant anything I ordered had to be paid for as they had not swiped my credit card on arrival. Breakfast was good but only 7 to 9 which is very restrictive. The evening menu was ok and the food was as described but the prices were very high for the quality received. The price of drinks at the bar were also very high compared to other places close by. In my opinion this is not a Mercure Hotel at the overall quality and professionalism were poor. I will not use this hotel again.
