After an amazing stay a while back, I chose to stay in a larger room, and truly enjoy the experience of 21C. The room was missing the mini bar, the view from 1305 was beautiful, we walked around the parts of the museum that were open after a concert at DPAC and enjoyed it, I have bragged about the bank vault only to be stopped and questioned by a security guard and told the vault was closed (missed seeing it, could he not have walked us around it?), no mention of ice till we were checking out. Just disappointed and am hesitant to return.

The coffee maker was not working, the night stand lights were clunky and flickering , the “free” drink ticket cost me $10, I was overcharged at check out and it is still not resolved, only 1 bed was made, towels were not replaced.

The location of the hotel and the 1st floor bar are great. The hallways are very loud. From inside your room you can hear all the noises in the hallway, voices and feet. There should be carpeting and soft surfaces is the hall for acoustic absorption. The doors to the hallway have to bid an undercut. You need either a taller door or a drop seal. This would aid both with the noise and the light coming in from the hall. There are not enough plugs in the room for a 21st Century hotel. The doors to the bathrooms also have to much of an undercut. There is little acoustic privacy in the bathrooms. Terrazzo is not a good material for a hotel room. It looks dirty. It was poorly patched which only made it look dirtier and the carpet around the beds did not provide enough floor coverage considering what the base flooring was.

I was surprised at the quality of the finishings inside the rooms. From a large gap at the floor of the door that let in plenty of noise to the non-functioning (and far to few) outlets to a leaky shower head that sprayed water all over the place, there were just details that could be easily fixed that would have made the stay better. The lobby/check-in area could be better marked, too. Several of us that arrived at the same time were wandering the gallery trying to find how to check-in, which isn't the best welcome you'd expect. The location couldn't be better, though, and the beds were comfortable.
