All the things I look for - good breakfast pastries, room made up promptly, quiet and clean. Point knocked off for room smelling a bit of stagnant water and no sign saying Mercure outside, which added more time to a long journey searching.

We had a very enjoyable week in Ferrara made more enjoyable by the very comfortable hotel room (51 ). Apart from the usual bedside lights powered by extremely malnourished glowworms, all the room facitities worked well. Good shower and bath etc. Wonderful location makes all the main sites walkable. Did not use the restaurant but plenty of places to eat within walking distance even for octogenarians. When the barman had a day off the bar closed. What?

i stayed 3 times in the new renovated rooms , this time at main building and the bathroom wasn't so nice 4th floor, amazing view..but cold water missing from the taps (room 418) staff very helpful at all !!

No indication that this was a Mercure outside so very difficult to locate. Not quite up to the usual Mercure standards but helpful staff. No baggage deposit, no water, shower dangerously slippery and leaked over floor, A/C faulty. Fantastic location!

Location perfect for city centre. Lovely hotel and spacious room. Helpful and friendly staff. One downside. No shower, just a hand held one over a bath with no curtain or screen. Also some days not enough water pressure to get water out of the tap. Reception told but no improvement. Shame. Hotel would have been 10/10 otherwise.

Lovely hotel in a perfect city centre location opposite the old castle. Staff were nice and very helpful. Superior room (502) was very spacious and well equipped with coffee making machine etc. What took the edge off the experience was no shower in the bathroom. There was a hand held shower above the bath but no shower curtain and at times the water pressure disappeared completely!! No water out of the tap. We told reception but it didn’t improve. A real shame as everything else about the hotel was perfect.

Regarding the shower curtain we are sorry, the bathroom would actually only have the jacuzzi, the shower is been added for an extra service, in other rooms the showers have their box, the curtains are not hygienic the reason why it was not in your bathroom. As for the lack of water detected in his accommodation during his stay, unfortunately the reception also came to know very late considering that it was an emergency block that lasted a few hours due to a pipe rupture in the road that is right next to the structure. We are really sorry for the inconvenience and we invite you to come back and see us so that we have the opportunity to show you how much we have to offer and how much care our staff has towards our welcome guests. The Mercure sign wasn't displayed anywhere on the outside which made it quite difficult to locate. The overall experience was excellent. I can't emphasize enough how wonderful, polite, friendly and professional everyone is at this Hotel. Every single member of staff is super friendly and genuinely willing to make sure you feel welcome at every single interaction. I can't phrase them enough. Many thanks for a wonderful experience.

View from the room directly on the Castel d‘Este. Clean, well designed and comfortable. Great coffee in the in-room machine, but no idea how to clean it. Lots of mosquitos and some noisy nightlife outside on the piazza.

This hotel is a lesson in how to grow old gracefully mixing a classy traditional vibe with nice contemporary touches. The rooms are smart and comfortable with some incredible views of the castle across the road. Staff are exceedingly friendly and helpful - they even loaned me an umbrella when it rained heavily so I could go out to eat. The breakast buffet was comprehensive and the public spaces as smart as the rooms. All in all an excellent stay in a lovely and good value 4* hotel.

Our Suite was hot when reported to front office got told thermostat is working fine and that I should open the windows.. note that I and my son are allergic to pollen, the aperitif at the Bar was not friendly rather in a bad mood he was talking about his salary disappointment which we really don’t care nor want to know, plus send an email to the GM and never got a reply
