I booked and was confirmed twice, a Mercure room with facilities which were to include, room safe, mini bar and bath, none of which were provided. I was later informed the the floor I had been allocated had been rebranded Ibis. Tough luck !!

You thought? Did you find the solution? If not I do tell you. This wonderful place is here at this wonderful hotel Mercure Budapest Buda.After you enjoy your breakfast in the morning, take welcome drink voucher with you and go to the bar. There you will be welcomed by a very friendly and professional staff member. Ask her/him to prepare for you a hot chocolate. Sit down and slowly enjoy it and then eat the biscuit. The result: you will always think day/night at this hot chocolate and you will always compare it with others. Dear reader none will be like the one from Mercure Budapest Buda, belive me. Try only once and you will see. What can I say? Thank you to all Mercure Budapest Buda staff for your services and professionalism.

I loved the room design and how quiet it was. The hotel is large but it has 4 elevators which makes going up and down very easy. Friendly and professional staff made my stay perfect and I will surely stay there on my next visit to Budapest.

Comfortable and practical: Next to a subway station, which allows easy access to the center of Pest, and to the Center of Buda it is necessary only to cross a park, nevertheless implying the ascent of a staircase, something tiresome, but perfectly possible to be realized. Good restaurant, but the breakfast, of excellent quality, though a bit pricey.

The new upgraded rooms are superb, thank you for that lovely experience after a long day of travelling. The beds are on the firmer side but still comfy and well padded. The location was handy for the attractions on the Buda side, but not that handy for the other side, too far to walk and I found the metro a little too dear for scooting back and forth.

What else?! Whenever I have a business trip in this area I always have the pleasure to stay in this hotel where everytime I feel like at home. Good strategical position in a rather quiet area of the town, though being near to the heart of the City. Very helpful and friendly personnel and top-quality service.

Nice hotel. Good breakfast, but low on accessories(when full no cups or forks were available). The parking spaces for clients were a bit expensive. The hotel placement in Budapest was very good. Will return here :)

I have stayed at the Mercure Buda about once a year for the past 10 years. The Staff is excellent and friendly (with very little turnover) and the rooms are efficient and clean. The location is outstanding for walking and close to the train. The food at the hotel is excellent and there are at least 5 good restaurants within easy walking nearby

« Theft at the hotel »

The following issue took place during our stay at the hotel May 4 - May 6, 2018: from our room dissapeared hand-made Christmas decorations (5 items) which were bought in Austria 2 days prior to our arrival in Budapest, the total cost - 100 Euro. Wrapped in paper decorations were left on the writing table. We realized that the items are missing in the morning of the departure day, May 6 at 8 am. We immediately informed the reception about the theft. When we stepped downstairs at 9 am, receptionists told us that they are too busy to solve our issue but promised to give a call to the room service till noon. When we come back at noon, the supervisor informed us that they tried to solve the situation however the service lady knows nothing about our decorations. What's more, the supervisor offended us by saying that she doubt if we are telling the truth. And she accused us of not putting things into a safe (Should we put the whole luggage into a safe???) In the end, the supervisor said that she can't help us before Monday, May 7 when the upper management is back to the office. After these negotiations she suggested taking a bottle of wine or lunch at the restraunt though she knew that we are pressed for time (this proposal must have been done at the beginning!!!) So, we refused as we were in a hurry and as the result we passed our bus (700 HUF) and had to take a taxi (3000 HUF) not to be late for the plane. So, due to unprofessional behaviour of the reception service we had to pay more than 4 times more (3000 VS 700 HUF). On Monday (May 7) we were waitnig for the promised by the supervisor call however we got nothing. So, the conclusion is that nobody tried to solve the issue and theft seems to be a normal stage of circumstances in your hotel. We are shocked by both theft itself and the behavior of the hotel management at reception. All in all our material losses constitute 110 EUR and what's more we have an impaired mood after staying at your hotel. In this trip we also stayed in Ibis in Bratislava and Vienna and everything was great there. Please, try to resolve the situation and compensate us for the losses.

Stayed here for 5 days. The hotel is very close to metro station and within walking distance of Castle district. The a/c ducts were working making me believe the a/c was on. It took three days to find out that the a/c is not yet installed but the work is in progress. The room was hot and I needed to check with the front desk to open the windows fully. I did not know at the time of booking that a/c was not there. Otherwise, I would have booked another accor hotel with air conditioning. The best is the friendliness of the front desk people. They were fabulous and extremely helpful.

Overall a decent hotel. Good location and reasonable price. A big problem with cleanliness. Checked in late and noticed that the toilet was not cleaned. Was informed that they have problem with their maintenance staff.

The hotel is moderately priced as it is on the Buda side of the city. However there is a transit station right next door which will take you downtown or to Heros Square in a few minutes. Meanwhile the Buda side is quaint, quiet and has much to see and do as well. You are in the castle district and can easily walk to the castle and spend an entire day there. The Turkish baths are on the Buda side and a short tram ride away. You can walk to Fishermen's Bastion as its close by and has extraordinary views. I recommend going at night as the night lights are beautiful and there are no admission costs at night.

« Good service, good location in a modern Hotel Building »

The hotel is next to a transport hub offering good public transport connections to the rest of the city and Transdanubia region of the country by train. During our stay we had to travel all around Budapest, we managed to get everywhere within the hour, the city centre is about 10 minutes away on the underground. There is a park nearby, but its mostly built up area, mixed residential and commercial. The neighbourhood was ok, even late in the evening, few rough sleepers near the railway/metro station, but they are everywhere in Budapest. The building is modern, the lobby is nice and bright, the corridors were in a sorry state on some floors as they were undergoing refurbishment. During our stay we could not hear any noise from this works. The rooms were in good shape, we had a standard with double bed. The mattress is on the harder side, if you like yours soft a mattress topper is recommended. All other furniture was in good condition, more than enough storage space for the two of us for a week. The TV has more German channels than English, no British at all, but you don`t go overseas to watch TV. Wifi signal was strong and connection speed was good. Cleaning was daily, spotless and amenities replaced as required. The breakfast is hot and cold buffet, the selection is good if you stay only a couple of days, I would imagine it would get boring after that. I felt it a little bit overpriced compared to what can you get if you shop around the city. We did not have lunch or dinner in the hotel restaurant. The staff was polite, friendly, Bence at the reception offered assistance with everything you can think off from sight seeing to car rental when we checked in.

The staff was friendly and helpful. However the condition of the hotel is not very good as it needs repair. The beds and bathroom were clean enough but the carpets were very faded which doesn't give a good first impression. The location is rather secluded but its very easy to get to the city centre on the metro.

The Mercure Budapest Buda hotel rooms are below the quality standard I am used to at the Mercure Hotels. Outdated furniture, very simple looking bathroom, air conditioning out of order, LCD TV set without HD quality and limited number of channels. The place definitely needs an upgrade to modern standards. The restaurant delivers good food, but the capacity of the kitchen is insufficient. Waiting time for me was over one hour. Number of park places totally insufficient, if the hotel is fully booked. Because Budapest receives so many business travelers and tourists, they probably think they can easily get away with low quality at this price level.
